The Covad next-generation wholesale broadband network consists of a resilient optical backbone and a carrier-grade multiprotocol label switched (MPLS) core. Network redundancy is designed into the architecture, with path-protected mesh (PPM) networking to ensure ultra high levels of availability. Optical networking capacity can be upgraded with multiple OC-192s (10 Gbps) to reach throughputs that support higher-bandwidth services as needed.

With an advanced network services integration layer and application level awareness, Covad has engineered performance into our network design so that our wholesale customers are able to provide a differentiating experience for voice, video, and data application services.
